Has it really been four years? It
seems like yesterday we were dealing with
that whole village mess.
Can you imagine
a village under today's economic conditions? The
village committee would be holding a bake sale at 4 & 43, just to get money to
pay the light bill at the village hall!
Any way, we're back, and so are they!
By "they", well DANA of course, or the Defreestvile Area Neighborhood
Association, formally known as the "Village Incorporation
Committee" (VIC), now known as the "Greenbush
Party"
(GBP), new name, old game, old players.
Yea, we know, DANA said they weren't
part of the village committee, and the village committee said it
wasn't part of DANA, and Clinton said he never touched Monica.
At the end of the day, he wasn't telling the truth either. You just can't believe
everything you hear anymore, and we don't expect you to
believe everything we have to say either. As in the past, we'll
post real information, information you can use to make your own informed decision. We'll
show you the facts, figures and documents, as compared to the hype,
half truths and the lies that being propagated others.
OK, back to DANA, VIC, GBP , or what
ever they want to be know as this week. After the village
issues were settled, we had some time to sit back, reflect, and do a
little research. There were a few things we wanted answers to.
First, where did DANA/VIC get all that money? It's been
estimated that DANA/VIC spent in excess of $250,000 trying to
control development in the Defreestville area. We have our
doubts it was raised from within their organization, no other organization in town has
ever raised that kind of money. The Boy Scouts, the fire
Departments, the ambulance, little leagues and even the political
parties, all hold organized fund raisers, yet never come close to
raising this kind of cash.
Second, if they were given the money by a
third party, what was the motivation of that third party? Anyone who would fork over that much cash, had to
have a reason, and we want to know what was it? If DANA/VIC
accepted the money, wouldn't that make them a PAC, or Political
Action Committee, which by law would be required to
file a financial disclosure?
Last but not least, why was DANA/VIC
listed on a website of an organization that raises money for 501(c)(3) organizations
(tax deductible charities), when DANA/VIC wasn't/isn't a 501(c)(3)
organization? Could this have had anything to do with their
attorney being on the board of directors? Were people mislead into believing their deductions were tax
deductible? A search of the IRS website fails to produce any
organization resembling DANA as a 501(c)(3).
FOLLOW THE MONEY
In politics, if you "Follow the money" ,
it leads to the "BOSS", which explains why DANA/VIC didn't want to
disclose where they received their funding. But when you
consider they somehow
raised, and spent an estimated $250,000 (some estimates are higher),
without ever holding a fund raiser, it would appear that some
outside influence or influences were involved.
Who were the influences, and what did
they want so badly they would give thousands of dollars to DANA/VIC?
We think we
have the answer, but you're going to have to
wait for the story to unfold.
NEW NAME, SAME OLD GAME
DANA/VIC/GBP also has some interesting
political connections that need explaining. One needs only to
look to the January 2006 appointments made by the then, new
administration, basically a who's who list of DANA/VIC.
Anyone who even remotely opposed the village, and worked at Town
Hall, found themselves without a job.
So at the end of the day, was the
village idea really a community effort, or a tactic by a political
party to control the most sought after piece of real estate in
Rensselaer County? When you put it all together, it starts to
make sense. In the coming weeks well be posting the
information we have, which we believe will explain what was really
going on, who was behind it, and what they hoped to accomplish.
In the mean time, pass the word that
we're back, and check back often as we update the information we
have. Feel free to use the link at the top of the page to
email us, your thoughts, feedback, or just to say hello.
